Packers need Sam Shields back

The Packers defense sure could have used Sam Shields at cornerback on Sunday. Generally, Dom Capers bend and don’t break defense gives up short gains and forces teams to move the ball slowly down the field but not give up big chunks of yards. It seemed that every time Carolina got the ball, Cam Newton was heaving the ball down the field for long gains or collecting defensive penalties sustaining drives.

Cam Newton was only 15 of 30 passing the ball for 297 yards. But he had passes of 59, 52, 39, 24, 23  and 20 yards.

Inexperience at cornerback is the Packers Achilles heel especially when the Packers get little or no pass rush.
