K – Mason Crosby

Last Week: 2/2 FG (22, 50), 1/1 PATs; 9.00 fantasy points

The last time these teams met up, Crosby ended up shanking a potential game-winning field goal attempt so bad that it appeared to be blocked.

Since then, Crosby has actually jumped up his production. He had that huge 5/5 kick game (all from at least 40+ yards — with one 50+) against Minnesota before adding another couple makes (and another 50+ yarder) this past week against Chicago.

As I’ve mentioned many times, there are certain things to look for with a fantasy kicker:

  • someone who consistently makes his kicks
  • a team that scores a lot
  • an offense that is able to move the ball, but may struggle in the red-zone
  • the weekly matchup

Crosby marks off that first point with ease, but the other points haven’t been in his favor as much.

The offense has been underwhelming at best and has done little good while being the key component to a 1-4 streak since the bye week. They have done somewhat better since Lacy returned from his injury/benching, but only in spurts.

That part is most important to a potential good game from Crosby. If we see the offense have a handful of spurts (like in the Vikings game), there is a decent chance a few of those still don’t finish with a touchdown.

If he is given the chance, Crosby likely makes any field goal attempt he lines up for. With the offense seeming to find more balance lately — but still not nearly back to its powerhouse heights — I see it as a strong possibility that there are a few kicks attempted.

Week 13 Prediction: 3/3 FG (1 20-29, 1 30-39, 1 40-49), 2 PATs; 12.00 fantasy Points

Verdict: Worth A Play
