Round 3: Kyle Murphy, OT, Stanford (6-7, 302)

Murphy is an All-PAC 12 first team left tackle, who proved to be an anchor on one of the best offensive line’s in the country. He’s versatile enough to play either left or right tackle in the NFL and would provide some much-needed depth on a Packers line that seems to deal with injuries every season.

Don Barclay is set to become a free agent this spring, and based on his 2015 performance and injury history, I don’t expect him to return to Green Bay.

The Packers need to also consider they may not be able to re-sign David Bakhtiari to a contract extension after the 2016 season. He would be a major loss if he walked in free agency, but Green Bay may want a contingency plan in place.

Not only would drafting a tackle in one of the first few rounds this spring strengthen the overall depth of their line, it would also ensure the longevity of the left tackle position in case the Packers and Bakhtiari can’t come to an agreement.
