Selection: 3rd Round (94th Overall)
Player/Pick Evaluation: Incomplete

The position everybody is talking about, it is going to be interesting to see what the wide receiver position looks like next season for the Packers. But one of the more absurd things I’ve read through social media (go figure) this past weekend, it the possibility of releasing Ty Montgomery before next season.

When Jordy Nelson returns, you can assume the bottom half of the Packers receiving core will be up for grabs between Montgomery, Davante Adams, Jeff Janis, and Jared Abbrederis. I can guarantee you that the Packers will not cut a third round pick with only six games under his belt, which means next season will be Montgomery’s to step up.

Possessing a raw physical skill set, Montgomery brings the ability to perform well at the receiver position, while being a huge part of the special teams unit as a returner too. This season was not a total waste of evaluating his talent, as he was able to score two touchdowns while totaling 136 receiving yards, but it’s simply not enough to know what you’ve fully got here.

With only the preseason and six regular season games to evaluate his performance, Montgomery receives an incomplete grade.
