Green Bay Packers: Evaluating the 2015 Draft Class
Jake Ryan
Selection: 4th Round (129th Overall)
Player/Pick Evaluation: B
As a Michigan native, I heavily follow the University of Michigan football program and was highly intrigued when the Packers drafted Jake Ryan in the fourth round last year. Although I did not fully believe he was ready to take the reign as a starter being rookie, which he was forced into this season.
With Sam Barrington going down with an injury in Week 1, the Packers were left to scramble a bit at the inside linebacker position this season. With Nate Palmer simply not cutting it, Ryan was given a much bigger role this season than anticipated, and performed relatively well as a starter.
The Packers could use some more help at the inside linebacker position, with my hopes of moving Clay Matthews back to the outside, but they have found a solid foundation with Ryan. Although struggling in man to man coverage at times this season, Ryan possesses the ability to be the anchor of this defense with the help of some acquisitions this off-season.
