Green Bay Packers: Evaluating the 2015 Draft Class
Brett Hundley
Selection: 5th Round (147th Overall)
Player/Pick Evaluation: Incomplete (Preseason grade: A)
Coming into the 2015 Draft, Brett Hundley was a quarterback high on my charts throughout the position, and I felt the Packers got an absolute steal when selecting him in the fifth round. Although we haven’t been able to get a full look at Hundley, just participating in the preseason, what we did see is highly intriguing.
The Packers traded up to grab Hundley in May, and it seems to be a move that will pay off significantly. He was able to lead the entire NFL in QBR during the preseason with a 129.7, while throwing seven touchdowns to just one interception. For somebody who had looked lost coming into training camp, the turn around he showed in such a short time was remarkable.
With backup quarterback Scott Tolzien a free agent, I believe it is time to let him walk, making Hundley the permanent backup to Aaron Rodgers, which will save a roster spot to address another area of your team. Already showing me he has more capabilities than the check down consistency of Tolzien, the Packers found a gem in the fifth round.
