K Mason Crosby

The Packers have to re-sign Mason Crosby. They just have to.

Crosby has become one of the most reliable kickers in the NFL and is rarely phased by the game situation. This is particularly evident in the postseason. Two years in a row, Crosby has converted a kick to keep the Packers’ season alive — the first was a field goal in Seattle to take the game to overtime, the second a PAT for the same result in Arizona.

Crosby set an NFL record in 2015 for most consecutive field goals in the postseason after connecting with is 20th in a row. To have a kicker who can stay ice cool when everything is on the line is valuable and not every team has such a luxury.

The simple fact is, if Crosby is allowed to hit the market, a team will snap him up long-term and be better off for it. The Packers need to make sure he’s re-signed before March 9.

It can be tough to replace kickers in the NFL, particularly if you opt for someone without much experience. Crosby has made a number of clutch kicks through his career and has a Super Bowl ring. He gets it. The Packers must bring him back.

Prediction: Re-signs
