Davante Adams

Not many players received as high praise during the offseason as Davante Adams. Adams was expected to make a major jump in his second year, especially when Nelson got hurt. As a rookie in 2014, Adams stepped up when the Packers needed him the most. In 2015, the offense was crying out for him to produce.

Adams was slow out of the gates against Chicago and then got hurt in Week 2 which didn’t help matters. The ankle injury he suffered against Seattle would limit him for the next couple of weeks and eventually kept him sidelined until after the Packers’ bye. By this stage, it was clear the offense lacked a boundary threat, but Adams’ return would help remedy that.

Unfortunately, that couldn’t be further from the truth. The Packers knew Adams needed to be the man, and Aaron Rodgers threw the ball his way 21 times in the home loss to Detroit. Despite a huge number of targets, Adams caught just 10 of them for 79 yards and had a severe case of the drops.

Whether his ankle was still bothersome late in the year or if it was simply due to a lack of confidence, Adams didn’t play well and finished the season with 50 catches for 483 yards and one touchdown.

There were some signs of encouragement before the end of the season. In the Week 17 loss to Minnesota, Adams showed flashes of becoming the boundary threat the Packers needed, and he backed it up a week later in Washington with four catches for 48 yards and a touchdown in the first half before being sidelined for the remainder of the year with a knee injury.

This is a huge offseason for Davante Adams.
