Defensive linemen

The Packers might look to bolster the defensive line early in the draft. B.J. Raji is a free agent and Mike Pennel has been suspended for the first four games of the 2016 season. With Mike Daniels on the line, another dominant presence could give the Packers one of the best defensive fronts in the league.

Vernon Butler, Louisiana Tech: Butler is one of my favorite candidates for the No. 27 pick. His pass-rushing qualities alongside Daniels could help the defensive line dominate. Has drawn comparisons to the Jets’ Muhammad Wilkerson, and they don’t come much more dominant than Big Mo.

Jarran Reed, Alabama: Reed is another player that would be a great fit in Green Bay. He’s an elite run defender who could play 5-technique along the defensive line. With Letroy Guion at nose tackle, the Packers could be strong against the run up front.

Sheldon Day, Notre Dame: Considered undersized, but they said that about a certain Mike Daniels. Can be disruptive breaking into the backfield, and would be an interesting option for the Packers. Combine could rise his draft stock, but his size is holding him back.

A’Shawn Robinson, Alabama: Unlike Day, size is far from an issue with Robinson, who could shore up the run defense from day one. Another interesting defensive lineman to keep a close eye on over the next week.
