Round 5: OT Willie Beavers, Western Michigan

Willie Beavers to the Packers would make a ton of sense. Beavers has the potential to become a versatile option along the offensive line. He has good athleticism and could eventually become a starter in the NFL. The tackle out of Western Michigan might not become an instant hit, but he would add much-needed depth from day one and could eventually compete for a starting job.

In 2015, Green Bay severely lacked depth at the tackle spots. David Bakhtiari and Bryan Bulaga both missed time, and the likes of Don Barclay and Josh Walker couldn’t provide adequate cover. JC Tretter filled in nicely, and the Packers need more players like Tretter.

It’s also worth noting that Bakhtiari and Tretter are both set to hit free agency in 2017, as are guards T.J. Lang and Josh Sitton. The Packers not only need depth for the 2016 season, but potential replacements for their future free agents.

Beavers can eventually become a starter should Bakhtiari or Tretter walk. The Packers will try and keep both players in town due to their age, in which case Beavers could provide adequate cover. At some point, Green Bay needs to add depth to the offensive line.
