Round 7: CB Lloyd Carrington, Arizona State

Cornerback is a premium position on defense, and you can never have too many. Casey Hayward is set to hit free agency, so adding a late-rounder for depth would be a smart choice.

Rob Rang of CBSSports.com believes Lloyd Carrington can find a role in the NFL:

"“Like his former teammate Damarious Randall, Carrington possesses the combination of instincts and grit that could help his stock soar as a senior. Carrington may lack the straight-line speed scouts would prefer but his awareness and physicality fit in a zone-based scheme at corner. Clubs could see Carrington as a possible safety convert, as well.”"

The Packers have good depth at cornerback currently. Sam Shields is the clear No. 1; Damarious Randall and Quinten Rollins impressed as rookies and will be expected to make a jump in year two. The likes of Micah Hyde, Demetri Goodson and Ladarius Gunter offer depth.

Adding another young prospect would make sense in the final round of the draft. Carrington wouldn’t be asked to do much from day one, but could find a home on special teams and offer cover at the position. He would have time to develop into his role on defense and would round out a strong draft.
