Round 1: WR Josh Doctson, TCU

Ted Thompson is a firm believer in taking the best player available. If Reggie Ragland is there at No. 27, there’s a good chance it’ll be him. But if Josh Doctson is still available, it would be tough to pass him up. Doctson has the look of a potential star in the NFL and could become a major player on offense for years to come.

The 6-foot-2, 202-pounder has the size to play outside the numbers. His ability to go up and get the ball is as good as any receiver in this class, and he has the strength and physicality to out muscle defensive backs. Doctson has excellent leaping ability and strong hands. He can make a number of contested catches — many of which belong on a highlight reel.

For the Packers, Doctson’s presence could give defenses too much to handle. Imagine lining him up on one side with Jordy Nelson on the other, allowing Randall Cobb and Ty Montgomery to roam in the slot. When you sprinkle in third-year Davante Adams and Jeff Janis, this offense could be close to unstoppable.

Long term, the Packers need a successor to Nelson as Aaron Rodgers’ top target. In Doctson, they might have their man.
