If the Green Bay Packers turn to the running back position in the 2016 NFL Draft, which players could be on their radar?
James Starks’ future is up in the air and there’s no guarantee he returns to the Green Bay Packers. If he departs Packers News, the Packers will have a need at running back. That’s where the draft comes in.
We can forget about the potential of seeing Ezekiel Elliott pairing up with Eddie Lacy to form a dominant 1-2 punch on the ground (although that would be fun). More likely for the Packers is selecting a running back in the middle rounds. There are a number of options for Green Bay on day two or three.
Lacy is expected to return in better shape this offseason and we all know what that could mean. Spoiler: It’s not good for opposing defenses. What the Packers need is a complementary back who can provide a dangerous change-of-pace behind him. With Lacy’s bruising style wearing down defenses, a speedy back who can turn on the afterburners could be too much to handle.
And that’s before we mention Aaron Rodgers. Here’s some names to look out for.
