Green Bay Packers: Five tight end targets in 2016 NFL Draft
Tyler Higbee, Western Kentucky
On pass-catching potential, Tyler Higbee out of Western Kentucky offers plenty. The 6-foot-6, 249-pounder is a former wide receiver who has been making the transition to tight end. He has the speed, acceleration and soft hands to become a dangerous threat vertically down the field. Higbee can make tough catches in traffic and would be big target for Aaron Rodgers.
Jamie Newberg of CBSSports.com believes Higbee can become a talent in the NFL:
"“This is a nice looking tight end prospect who has worked hard to put himself in this position, especially after making the position change. Along the way, Higbee has added 60 pounds. He’s athletic and versatile and in the right offensive system Higbee could really be a nice weapon in the NFL because he’s a guy that can be good in the run game and evolve into a tight end that work the middle of the field in the passing game and become a real threat.”"
There’s a lot for him to work on, such as blocking and continuing to fill out his frame, but Higbee is a prospect I really like. If the Packers miss out on Henry, Higbee would be top of my ‘go get’ list. The potential to become the move tight end the offense so desperately needs could make him stand out in a weak tight end class.
