Green Bay Packers mock drafts? Lombardiave has got plenty of them
A post-free agency mock draft
With the free agency frenzy over, here’s an updated Green Bay Packers seven-round mock draft.
Free agency has finally calmed down, but staying cool was no problem for Green Bay Packers general manager Ted Thompson who made no moves for outside free agents. Thompson’s best work comes in the draft where he repeatedly builds playoff teams.
While many teams (I’m looking at you, Giants), sacrificed their future by overpaying above-average league starters on the open market, Thompson sat back and laughed. Paying a defensive end not named J.J. Watt more money than J.J. Watt makes no sense, especially when that player recorded 10 fewer sacks in 2015 than Watt.
Building through the draft is what the Packers have done every year under Thompson. His first pick as general manager was that of Aaron Rodgers in 2005. No selection has been as good as that one, but there’s been a number of hits and misses in the years since.
Despite looking to be just a player or two away from another Super Bowl run, the Packers stood pat in free agency and have put their eggs in the draft basket once more. Here’s who they could take in each round.
