Green Bay Packers latest seven-round mock draft
How could the Green Bay Packers fix their needs in the 2016 NFL Draft?
This is Ted Thompson’s time of year. With free agency fading into the distance, the Green Bay Packers general manager enters the final stages of the draft process which ends in Chicago for next month’s three-day event.
Almost every member of the Packers’ roster was either drafted by Thompson or signed as an undrafted free agent. No GM in the league believes in a draft-and-develop philosophy as much as Thompson, and nobody is as committed to it as he is. The Packers have avoided the temptation to follow in the footsteps of the Broncos by breaking the bank on the open market, despite Aaron Rodgers’ championship ‘window’ slowly fading.
Green Bay enters this offseason with big needs at tight end and inside linebacker, but they also need upgrades at outside linebacker and on the defensive and offensive lines. The tight end class is thin and there aren’t a great deal of options for the Packers, but the same can’t be said of defensive linemen, where there is a deep pool of talent.
The Packers have nine picks in this year’s draft after being awarded two compensatory picks in the fourth-round.
