Round 1: DT Andrew Billings, Baylor

The Packers needed help to the defensive line before B.J. Raji announced his ‘hiatus’ from football and Mike Pennel got slapped with a four-game suspension, but now more than ever there’s urgency to find more talent up front.

Thankfully for Green Bay this is a strong draft for defensive linemen, and a perfect fit in the first-round is Baylor’s Andrew Billings. Billings is a powerful, dominant nose tackle who could give the run defense a serious upgrade. Mike Daniels is an elite talent at defensive end, and by pairing him with a nose tackle who glows the potential of Billings, the defense would be poised to make the next step.

We’ve seen the Packers’ commitment to building their secondary pay off with the No. 6 ranked pass defense in 2015, but still needing help is the leaky run defense. Billings can be an anchor at the heart of the defense — he can help shut down running games and also offers plenty as an interior pass rusher.

Can the Packers find value at the position on day two? Sure, but if Billings falls to No. 27 why not go grab the best nose tackle in the draft? Dom Capers will be thankful for it.
