Green Bay Packers latest seven-round mock draft
Round 3: TE Jerell Adams, South Carolina
Mike McCarthy is desperate for a big tight end who can burst down middle of the field and stretch defenses vertically. Richard Rodgers is a talented young player who excels in the red zone, but his lack of speed prevents him from being the player McCarthy truly loves to utilize in his offense.
Jerell Adams might be the best ‘F’ tight end in the class, meaning he’s a player who is used primarily as a pass-catcher either in the slot or out of the backfield. Adams is 6-foot-5, 247 pounds and has the speed and route-running ability to get open down the field. When you look at him play, you see a mismatch in the passing game.
Adams is an explosive player who would be a perfect fit in Green Bay. Aaron Rodgers would have a big, athletic weapon in the middle of the field who can split safeties. Life would become very taxing on defenses who have to worry about Jordy Nelson on the boundary, Adams in the middle and Randall Cobb in the slot.
A player like Adams could quickly help the Packers regain their aura on offense and pick up where they left off from 2014.
