Packers fans, want mock drafts? We’ve got a ton of them updated right here
You can accuse Thompson of not being bold enough in free agency, but he’s not afraid to move around in the draft. Thompson also loves to stock up on draft picks, and he could have the opportunity to do so here.
This trade would send the Packers’ first round selection to San Diego in exchange for the Chargers’ second, fourth and sixth round picks. Green Bay would go without a first round pick dropping into day two, but would then have 11 selections to work with over the final two days.
For the Chargers, they might take an aggressive approach in trying to fix their offensive line as Philip Rivers’ window is quickly closing. Mississippi tackle Laremy Tunsil could be off the board by the time they pick at No. 3, and they may need to move up back into the first round to be able to take another highly rated prospect such as Ohio State’s Taylor Decker.
If the Packers trade out of the first round, they would be doing so with a day two target in mind. Thompson would have his eye on a prospect who they can go get early on day two just as he did with Jordy Nelson in 2008. In the process, the Packers would acquire some extra picks.
