Round 4: OT Cole Toner, Harvard

The Packers lacked depth along the offensive line in 2015 and it almost got Aaron Rodgers killed. Injuries to David Bakhtiari and Bryan Bulaga meant the face of the franchise was exposed due to some poor play from the backups. Adding some big guys this offseason is a must for Green Bay.

Enter Cole Toner out of Harvard.

What initially stands out about Toner is his size. He stands at 6-foot-5, 306 pounds and has the look of an NFL starter. Toner has good agility and athleticism and was a strong pass protector in college. Many have questioned the level of competition he faced at Harvard, but he handled the jump up to the Senior Bowl and played well.

Initially Toner would add some much-needed depth at the tackle positions, but he could also be groomed into a future starter.

It’s not just depth the Packers need, but also potential replacements for Bakhtiari and JC Tretter, who are set to hit free agency after the 2016 season. Bakhtiari will likely be a priority re-signing for Ted Thompson, but ensuring there is adequate depth behind him is important incase a deal can’t be agreed.
