Packers fans, want mock drafts? We’ve got a ton of them updated right here
Round 4: TE Tyler Higbee, Western Kentucky
The Packers need to find a tight end from somewhere. Maybe it’ll be in free agency, but more than likely it’ll be in the draft. Unfortunately, there isn’t much depth in the tight end class this year outside of Hunter Henry, who is projected by many to be taken in the first round. An interesting prospect in the mid-rounds is Tyler Higbee out of Western Kentucky.
Higbee is a former wide receiver and he has the talent to help in the passing game right away. The Packers need a ‘move’ tight end to get open vertically down the field, and Higbee could be that guy. He has the speed, runs smooth routes and can catch in traffic. All of the tools are there to become talented option in the passing game.
Holding him back is his blocking ability and thin frame. He still needs to bulk up and become at least a half decent blocker in the NFL. This could hurt his playing time immediately, but is exactly what you would expect from a mid-round prospect at the position.
If the Packers don’t turn to the tight end position in free agency, they’ll need to find someone who can produce in the draft. Higbee would offer good value on day three.
