Packers 2016 seven-round mock draft: Defense gets major upgrades
Round 6 (200): OG Rees Odhiambo, Boise State
Josh Sitton and T.J. Lang form arguably the best guard tandem in the NFL, but both are set to hit free agency following the 2016 season. Keeping one in town is possible, but maintaining both will be very difficult when you look at a free agent list including Eddie Lacy, David Bakhtiari and Sam Barrington.
In the sixth round, the Packers could land a player who might have been selected higher if not for a history of injuries. Rees Odhiambo can play tackle, but is expected to make the switch inside to guard at the next level. If he does indeed get a shot at tackle, it would be on the right side.
Odhiambo has the potential to become a solid player at the next level so long as he can stay healthy. His most recent injury was a broken ankle suffered last October which ended his season.
So long as his medical checks get the green light, Odhiambo would be a nice late-round option for the Packers. There’s a possibility a team will be willing to take a flier on him in an earlier round, but there’s also a good chance he’ll drop to the sixth.
