Lombardiave.com: A look at Packers mock drafts
Round 2 (57): OLB Kamalei Correa, Boise State
Kamalei Correa is an intriguing prospect and one who could give the Packers tremendous value on day two. Correa is listed as a defensive end but will likely find a comfortable home as an outside linebacker in a 3-4.
When watching the tape, there’s a lot to like about his game: Correa is an effective pass rusher who bursts off the snap and has good speed. The Boise State product will look to get stronger and add some weight at the next level, but the raw skills are there to become an excellent player in the NFL.
With a 36-year-old Julius Peppers expected to see a reduce in his snap count, the Packers need more talented pass rushers to be groomed into future starters when the future Hall of Famer walks away from Packers News. Nick Perry has struggled to stay healthy and Datone Jones — who will move into an “elephant” role in 2016 — still has a lot to prove. Correa would be a great fit.
His ability isn’t limited to getting after the quarterback, however. He offers plenty against the run with his anticipation skills and speed to give chase.
Correa isn’t the finished product, but he has sky-high potential with a lot of raw talent.
