Green Bay Packers: Five sleepers to target in 2016 NFL Draft
OLB Victor Ochi, Stony Brook
A name to look out for on day three of the draft is Victor Ochi of Stony Brook. While Ochi played at a smaller school and isn’t an every-down player, he feels like a good fit for Green Bay and could offer some value in the later rounds.
Ochi is an explosive player who might be limited to work on obvious passing downs immediately, but he’s an intriguing prospect with interesting raw tools. The Packers want to get more consistent pressure on the quarterback, and the Stony Brook product would be able to offer value as a role player initially. NFL.com draft analyst Lance Zierlein believes he fits as an outside linebacker in a 3-4:
"“Transitioning to NFL speed and strength will be a huge jump for Ochi, but he has the translatable power and nastiness to compete for a roster spot as a physical, edge-setting 3-4 outside linebacker.”"
If the Packers want to get more production from their pass rush, they would be advised to go earlier in the draft. Day one prospects like Kamalei Correa and Noah Spence are intriguing. But for late-round value, Ochi can find a role on defense immediately and would give the Packers someone to develop.
