Kenn Korb: WR Charone Peake, Clemson

Previous picks: DT Andrew Billings, LB Jaylon Smith, ILB Scooby Wright, OLB Yannick Ngakoue, TE Jerell Adams, RB Paul Perkins, OL Joe Dahl

Jordy Nelson. Randall Cobb. Davante Adams. Ty Montgomery. Jared Abbrederis. Jeff Janis.

If you look at the Packers’ current depth chart, it may not seem like the Packers necessarily need a receiver. But last year we saw what happens when you overestimate your depth, and Green Bay is unlikely to make that mistake again.

Though the depth chart currently has a bunch of names – each of which has shown either high-end production (in the cases of Nelson and Cobb) or flashes which could become it (Adams, Montgomery, Abbrederis and Janis have all had their moments in their young careers) – just sitting with what they have would leave the team in the exact position they were in last season: constantly scrambling for answers as our positional depth continued to deplete itself.

The Packers should not just add another body though; they should go bigger, and add something the offense was missing even at its pre-2015 strengths. A player like Charone Peake could provide exactly what I’m talking about.

Peake would be a dream scenario of sorts, should he somehow be here this long. He could give the Packers someone that attacks all levels of the defense and provides some semblance of speed to a group that could definitely use an injection of it. He would immediately jump into the grouping with Davante Adams and Ty Montgomery, fighting to become that #3 option for now and the near future in green and gold.
