8. David Bakhtiari (Freddie’s pick)

Ted Thompson has a skill of finding starting offensive linemen in the middle of the draft, and David Bakhtiari is a perfect example. Bakhtiari fell all the way to the Packers’ fourth-round pick in 2013, but by the time the season began he was the starting left tackle. Bryan Bulaga went down with a torn ACL which opened the door at left tackle, and upon Bulaga’s return he was unable to dethrone Bakhtiari on the left side.

To fully appreciate his influence on the offensive line, go and look at the games he missed in 2015. First off turn on the tape for the Hail Mary game in Detroit. Bakhtiari kept one of the best pass rushers in the league, Ezekiel Ansah, in check all evening long. Bakhtiari missed one snap with an injury and what happened? Ansah powered through for a sack. That was the only joy the defensive end had all night long.

Bakhtiari also sat out of the Week 16 blowout loss to the Arizona Cardinals, a game that saw Aaron Rodgers hit the turf eight times. When he returned for the divisional round game against the same opponent, Rodgers was sacked just once.

Bakhtiari is one of the unsung heroes in the trenches but has put in a great shift through his first three seasons at left tackle.
