Charone Peake, WR

Of the players I expected to be around on Day 3, Peake is the one I’ve had my eyes on the most.

As mentioned in the community mock, the Packers do have plenty of wide receiver options on the roster. As I also made sure to say, they would be doing themselves a disservice to stand pat.

Peake does something few of the current crop of guys on the Green Bay roster can: attack at every level. Jordy Nelson can, but the rest tend to have a certain segment they focus on. Randall Cobb and Jared Abbrederis are slot guys who attack underneath the coverage. Jeff Janis burns up the field outside the numbers. Ty Montgomery has some of the desired all-over focus and the burst to take the top off defenses, but we didn’t get to see it much due to his injury problems, and who really knows what Davante Adams will do going forward right now (hopefully something more than last year).

Peake could give the Packers an attacker at all levels of the defense. He would also bring the kind of speed the team never found in the regular season without Nelson (though 40-times are generally massively overrated, a 4.37 time surely is worth turning your attention to on its own in these latter rounds)

Peake could jump right into a battle with Adams and Montgomery for the #3 spot — if not this season in particular, then in the near future. For a Day 3 pick, you can’t really hope for much more.

At least not reasonably.
