One of the biggest training camp storylines to follow will be on the Green Bay Packers’ wide receivers.

At this stage, Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb are the only locks at wide receiver for the Green Bay Packers. Nelson is returning from a torn ACL, but should regain his status as Aaron Rodgers’ favorite target. Cobb disappointed in 2015, but he has proven over the course of his career to be a versatile playmaker.

In all likelihood, the Packers will hold six receivers on their roster, but right now there are seven wideouts with a legitimate case to earn their spot (not including the undrafted free agents). The remaining candidates include Davante Adams, Ty Montgomery, Jeff Janis, Jared Abbrederis and this year’s fifth-round draft choice Trevor Davis.

A case can be made for and against each of these receivers, and that’s exactly what we’re going to do. Let’s work our way through each of these names and weigh up the pluses and minuses of keeping them on the roster.

Ultimately these guys will have to prove in camp they belong, but for now we can project ahead to what they can bring to the 2016 offense.
