How is the Green Bay Packers depth chart shaping up ahead of the 2016 season? We make our predictions for each position on the roster.

But before we get to that point, we are thinking about the players who should have the greatest impact on the team – at least the players we know have a place on the roster headed into the preseason.

Anything can happen after the first coaches’ whistles blow – rookies could and should emerge, injuries are most likely, and who knows – maybe Ted Thompson will make a trade or sign a player or two off the wire?

Nah … we know that won’t happen – that is unless he is forced to do so, as was the case last year when Jordy Nelson went down with a knee injury at the start of the third preseason game. But that’s a thought we don’t want to dwell on. Everyone will come through training camp unscathed, right?

Well, this is the NFL where anything and everything is expected.

So, as we champ at the bit for the start of the 2016 season, we take a quick look at the top two players at each position. Again, it could change as we go deeper into August, but for now we take a stab at each position and the players we see as those making the roster and holding down those jobs.

Lombardi Ave editors Ray Rivard and Freddie Boston have worked jointly on the depth chart, with Rivard making the picks on the offense and Boston taking the defense.

Let’s start at the top.
