Defensive tackle

Starter: Mike Daniels

Mike Daniels is one of the most underrated players in the entire NFL. If you want to treat yourself, go and watch Daniels’ film from last season. He was simply dominant.

Daniels is the nailed on starter at the three-technique position, a spot he excels in. He is a disruptive force against both the run and pass and often commands extra attention from offensive linemen.

As long as Daniels is healthy, the Packers defensive line revolves around him. He’s the key chess piece that opens up opportunities for his teammates. Every team needs a Daniels.

Backup: Mike Pennel

Pennel’s progress has been somewhat halted by his four-game suspension, but there’s a lot to like about his play. He can lineup in multiple spots along the defensive front and may throw his name into the nose tackle hat.

It will be difficult for Pennel to start fast after being forced to sit out of the first four games, which could hurt his chances of becoming a starter right away. With the state of the line, Pennel would make sense in the three-technique spot backing up Daniels. He will add vital depth after his return from suspension.
