Green Bay Packers: Five players to watch in preseason opener vs. Cleveland Browns
Kenny Clark, DT
Blessed with a roster rich in talent and depth, the defensive line is a rare spot of uncertainty. With B.J. Raji gone and Mike Pennel suspended, the Packers’ depth will be tested early in the season.
GM Ted Thompson countered the problem by using his first round pick on Kenny Clark from UCLA. Clark will need to make a fast start to his career, likely a starter when Green Bay visit Jacksonville for the season opener.
Clark must carry the weight of his first-round tag, and he will be under the spotlight when the Packers kickoff their preseason against the Browns. Will he line up at nose tackle, five-technique or multiple spots across the line?
Clark has had his way against the Packers backup offensive linemen, but it’s going to be interesting to see how he handles matchups with starting caliber talent. Preseason will give us a clue as to whether the first-rounder is set to follow in the footsteps of Damarious Randall and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and make a fast start to his career.
Like those two, Clark was selected to fill a need on the Packers defense. Can he live up to the first-round billing?
