RB – Eddie Lacy

Week 3 Statistics:

Lacy – 17 carries, 103 rushing yards, 1 catch, 2 yards; 10.50 fantasy points

We saw something from Eddie Lacy the last time he was on the field: he produced a good game on the ground earlier than we’ve seen in his previous three years!

It wasn’t some incredible effort, but Lacy surpassed 100 yards rushing against the Lions; prior to that, we hadn’t ever seen a game on that level this early since he punished the Vikings in that aspect during Week 5 of the 2014 season.

Before we get too excited though, we must make note of the competition coming this week.

The Giants defense as a whole hasn’t proven to be all that good yet (they rank #23 in Defensive DVOA through 4 games), but their run defense is on point; only the Ravens, Jets, Vikings and these Packers have been better in terms of run defense DVOA so far.

The line has multiple players capable of doing damage in the running game, led by the 350 lbs Damon “Big Snacks” Harrison in the middle (Pro Football Focus’ top-graded run defender for multiple seasons) and Vernon on the edge (#4 run defense grade among edge defenders, per PFF).

Lacy may be doing better, but it would be wise to temper expectations with stiff competition across from him — and a Giants’ pass defense that seems to have more easily exploitable holes.

Week 5 Prediction:

Lacy – 65 rushing yards, 2 catches, 25 yards; 9.00 fantasy points

Verdicts: Not Much Room To Run (Lacy)
