Lions face daunting schedule

While the Packers’ toughest games take place at home, the same can’t be said of the division-leading Lions. Detroit face consecutive road games against the NY Giants and Dallas, who are a combined 19-5. The Giants have won six of their last seven, while the Cowboys are undefeated since opening weekend.

The Lions continue to prove a lot of people wrong, myself included, but there’s reason to believe they lose both of these tough road games. Defeat in either would blow open the NFC North race and open the door for the Packers.

Detroit has made a habit of winning tight games this season, but the Giants are the kings of close contests. New York has won its eight games this year by an average of 5.1 points, slightly less than Detroit’s 5.2.

As for Dallas, well, the Lions’ best bet might be that the Cowboys are resting their starters. Only the Giants have defeated the Cowboys and their rookie sensation Ezekiel Elliott, and that was in both Elliott and quarterback Dak Prescott’s NFL debuts.

The Lions must first take care of business against the Bears, a team that outclassed them earlier in the season. But that’s when the real challenge begins.
