Offense is heating up

It took a while to get the engine going, but the Packers offense is in full flow entering December. Frigid Lambeau conditions and a balky hamstring threatened to limit Aaron Rodgers against Houston, but the two-time MVP looked at his best in the fourth quarter with touchdown drives of 98 and 89 yards.

In his past seven games, Rodgers has thrown for 2,113 yards and 19 touchdowns with just three interceptions. The Packers are a respectable 10th in passing offense this season. Don’t worry about the passing game, it’s heating up at the right time.

For all of the criticism pointed at Mike McCarthy, he’s adapted his offense due to a glaring weakness at running back. More frequent, shorter throws has helped.

Christine Michael and Ty Montgomery are expected to earn more carries in the backfield due to James Starks’s continued struggles this season. If either can offer a spark on the ground and give the Packers a respectable run game, it would give the entire unit a boost.

Question marks remain on defense, but the Packers are moving the ball through the air much better than they were early in the year. This will be key over the next four weeks.
