The Green Bay Packers came away with a last-second victory over the Dallas Cowboys — with the final blow delivered by the special teams unit.
The offense and defense did their parts both early and late with key contributions, but while most will focus only on those contributions from offensive and defensive players for this team, the special teams performers should not be overlooked.
Rather than looking just at the brilliance of Aaron Rodgers on one side or highlight plays by guys such as Micah Hyde and Nick Perry on the other, taking a long look into the different aspects brought to the table by the special teams players is just as important. At the end of the day, the contributions by them end up being at least as impactful (and in a few cases, undoubtedly moreso) as the plays created by the other two units of the team.
As usual, I will be looking at and breaking down what was provided by Green Bay’s kicker, punter, return group, and coverage group.
We begin with the hero of this week’s game…
