Green Bay Packers: Pre-combine seven-round mock draft
Fourth round: (4-124): DT Ryan Glasgow, Michigan
It’s no secret that the Packers’ lack of depth along the defensive line played a major role in their in-season regression in stopping the run.
Though Dom Capers’ unit ended the year at a respectable ninth place in that category, it was a far cry from the front seven’s early-season performances that saw Green Bay rank first overall versus the run during the first quarter of the season.
Mike Daniels alone cannot bear the burden of being the only interior lineman that consistently holds his ground as well as penetrating the opposing backfield.
It’s time to bring in another trench warrior that can win one-on-one battles as well as handle double-teams.
That man is Glasgow, who aggressively uses his powerful hands and extraordinary lower-body strength to deliver the initial blow on his blocker in an effort to get under his man’s pads before tossing him aside.
The 299-pound lineman also had games where he stoned just about every double-team that came his way and forced running backs to redirect on plays that typically gained little to no yardage (see Oct.1st matchup versus Wisconsin).
Glasgow’s toughness and relentless nature are infectious qualities that can set the tone for an entire defense.
This three-year college starter will immediately become a fan favorite in Packers News.
