CB Sidney Jones, Washington

This would be a major coup for the Packers.

In any other year, Sidney Jones might be the first cornerback off the board. He still might, but due to such a deep class there’s at least the possibility he falls to No. 29.

I wrote more in-depth about why Jones would be an ideal first-round selection by the Packers, which you can find here. First off, he’s one of the most polished corners entering the draft, and could be trusted to perform from day one. The Packers need immediate help at the backend of their defense, and Jones could come right in.

He’s at his best in man coverage, using a combination of quick feet and fluid movements to mirror receivers and hold strong coverage. Jones is no stranger to game-changing plays, either, intercepting eight passes in his three years at Washington.

While Jones needs to add more weight and strength to his game, it wouldn’t take long to establish himself as the Packers’ best cornerback, even as a rookie.
