Green Bay Packers: Six free agents they should consider signing
By Kenn Korb
Green Bay Packers fans know: free agency is not an area where this team tends to bring in talent.
Still, even though General Manager Ted Thompson rarely utilizes this avenue of team-building, it is undeniably an area he does think about and consider (Unfortunately for those of us who would enjoy some more excitement at this time of year, that he usually decides there is not any player worth bringing in).
With that in mind, I’ve picked out some players who are set to hit free agency who would make some sense to bring in to the Packers for various reasons — players which would not only forge a positive impact for the team should they join, but also would not come with the highly prohibitive price tag we might see with the majority of players picked up during the first few days of the free agency period.
Some of these players are big names with strong professional resumes already fully formed, so we should have a great idea of what we could get from them; others are up-and-comers and undervalued assets, with the promise of potential future strong play still sitting in front of them.
They all do share one thing in common, however: they appear to be the best value picks on the market. If Thompson were to actually reach out in free agency, value is the one thing above all else Green Bay’s GM prioritizes the most.
We begin on the edge…
