Micah Hyde

The Packers love Micah Hyde, the swiss army knife of Dom Capers’ defense. He can do it all. Whether he lines up at safety, cornerback, or returns punts, Hyde’s versatility is key on both defense and special teams, and it shone through late in the 2016 season.

In a secondary lacking talent, letting Hyde walk would make no sense at all. And it’s not a move I expect to happen.

Sam Shields is gone. Damarious Randall and Quinten Rollins have a lot to prove in their third seasons. Without Hyde, the cupboard would essentially be empty at the cornerback position, assuming Hyde continues to play a role at corner in 2017.

Hyde, along with Jared Cook, feel like two names the Packers won’t be letting get away this offseason. Hyde has improved steadily throughout his rookie contract, and Ted Thompson doesn’t tend to let his guys get away.

Prediction: Re-signs with the Packers
