CB Prince Amukamara

As you may know, the Packers need help at the cornerback position.

Although Micah Hyde is listed as a safety, his ability to play corner was crucial for the Packers in 2016. With his departure, Green Bay is left with Damarious Randall, Quinten Rollins, and LaDarius Gunter as their premier cornerbacks.

This isn’t the time to panic. After all, the 2017 draft class is deep at the cornerback position and you can bet Ted Thompson will be looking to strengthen the secondary in April.

But the Packers could do with some experience back there. That’s where Prince Amukamara comes in.

After five years with the Giants, Amukamara signed a one-year “prove it” deal with the Jaguars in 2016, and he put together a solid campaign.

Injuries have plagued his career, but he suited up 14 times in 2016 and impressed in Jacksonville. Given his injury history, teams may be cautious and unwilling to hand him the type of deal he wants.

And that’s where Ted Thompson could get in touch. Amukamara would add talent and experience to the cornerback position. Along with a draft pick or two at the position paired with the development of the young corners on the roster, the Packers could see a significant improvement in the defensive backfield.
