G T.J. Lang

When discussing potential free agents the Packers could sign, it’s easy to forget their own.

T.J. Lang is a Pro Bowl guard but currently without a team for 2017. He’s reportedly visiting with Detroit and Seattle, although Green Bay is said to still be in the mix to re-sign the veteran.

Lang, along with Josh Sitton, formed the league’s premier guard tandem for a number of years. In the space of just six months, the Packers could lose both.

Age and price may play into discussions around the negotiation table, but it’s important to remember the Packers’ situation. This isn’t a team looking to the future or in rebuild mode. This is a team with a future Hall-of-Famer at quarterback who is in the prime of his career.

By re-signing Lang, the Packers ensure there is premier protection at an interior spot. The offensive line was so crucial to Green Bay’s offensive success in 2016, and losing Lang would be a tough pill to swallow.
