Outside linebacker

The market for pass rushers has largely dried up, and the Packers will need to turn to the draft this April. There’s still a couple of names left that could interest Thompson.

Green Bay already inked the premier pass rusher on the market in Nick Perry.

Connor BarwinBarwin is the pick of the bunch. Released by the Eagles, he wouldn’t count against any compensatory picks in 2018. That’s how Ted likes it.

It wasn’t working out for Barwin in Philadelphia’s 4-3 defense, and he would be a much better fit in Dom Capers’ scheme as an outside linebacker. He’s just a few years removed from a 14-5-sack season. Pairing the experienced pass rusher with Nick Perry and Clay Matthews would make a whole lotta sense.

Datone JonesJones isn’t known for his sacks, but he did a lot of the dirty work up front for the Packers last year and should be rewarded with a new contract.

The 2013 first-round pick won’t be a flashy signing, but he’s a valuable asset who can likely be re-signed on the cheap.
