Our Breakdown
Two of the four writers ranked Deshaun Watson as their top quarterback, while Mitch Trubisky and DeShone Kizer each also got a nod at the top spot. Overall, Trubisky and Watson tied as our top quarterback in the class with Kizer coming in a close 3rd place.
The top three seem pretty clear at the position with the next tier of quarterbacks led by Patrick Mahomes and Davis Webb. Webb, Brad Kaaya, and Nathan Peterman were pretty consistently ranked in the middle of the top-10 among the four writers with Mahomes ranked either 3rd or 4th.
The most polarizing prospects were Jerod Evans, Chad Kelly, and Josh Dobbs. Only two writers included Kelly in their top-10, while Dobbs and Evans were ranked either 7th, 9th, or unranked.
The biggest surprise in the overall quarterback rankings may be Kaaya not included in the top-5 at the position. He was projected by many national draft analysts as one of the top quarterbacks prior to the 2016 season. However, his stock has fallen a bit since last summer.
