Our Breakdown

Among the four writers, Jonathan Allen was clearly the top defensive line prospect, receiving three first-place nods, but after that, the waters get murky. Two writers viewed Malik McDowell as the next-best defensive lineman, while one writer ranked him 7th and another left him out of his top-10.

Three writers had Caleb Brantley and Chris Wormley in their top-five, while one writer had Brantley ranked 10th and Wormley unranked. Three writers also ranked Jaleel Johnson in the 4th-7th range, while Ogunjobi was 6th on two writers’ boards and yet unranked by the other two writers.

All four writers included Alabama’s Dalvin Tomlinson in their rankings, but he ranged anywhere from the 4th to 10th-ranked defensive lineman. He comes in at a solid No. 6 in our final position rankings.

Jarron Jones, Carlos Watkins, and Eddie Vanderdoes were each only mentioned in two writers’ top-10 rankings, but Jones and Watkins were able to eek out Vanderdoes and tie for the 9th spot on our final defensive line rankings.

Former Washington nose tackle Elijah Qualls also earned a few points and narrowly missed our top-10 list.
