Aaron Rodgers: Second best all-time draft pick by the Green Bay Packers

The battle over the top two draft picks in Green Bay Packers history came down to the experience and championships won over the years.

Aaron Rodgers, picked up with the 24th pick in the 2005 NFL Draft, Packers GM Ted Thompson had the fortune to have the quarterback fall into his lap.

It has turned out pretty well, overall, with Rodgers leading the Packers to a Super Bowl XLV win over the Pittsburgh Steelers and a career path that is surely to see him eventually inducted into the Hall of Fame.

That said, the reason Rodgers has been selected here as the number two draft pick of all time is because he hasn’t been able to win multiple championships. Much of that is caused by the team around the player, and that has certainly been the case for Rodgers.

He’s been so close to the Super Bowl on several occasions over the course of his career, but for a variety of reasons, the team has fallen short.

But that is not to negate what Rodgers and the Packers did in 2010 to win his lone Super Bowl.

Rodgers’ performance that postseason is enough to land him on this list, but what he has done as a player for one of the greatest franchise’s has thrust him to near the top of the best draft picks of all-time.

What’s even more remarkable with Rodgers is that he followed one franchise quarterback in Brett Favre and helped provide the Green Bay Packers with Hall of Fame players back-to-back.

For the past 25 seasons the Packers have had the best QBs in the business. That in itself is pretty remarkable and only adds to the Packers mystique.
