Joe D’Aloisio: Packers select T.J. Watt, Edge, Wisconsin

With the 29th pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers select OLB T.J. Watt. Defense is the Packers number one priority in this year’s upcoming draft and if the former Wisconsin Badger is available at 29, the Packers should not hesitate.

Watt is very versatile and will make an impact against the pass and rush. Last season, he led the Badgers with 11.5 sacks and was third on the team with 63 total tackles.

Adding Watt to a linebacker core which already features Clay Matthews and Nick Perry would help the Packers become one of the top pressure units in the league. It could also motivate Matthews, who had a terrible ’16 season.

If Watt is not available at 29, the Packers should strongly consider drafting a corner. Last season the secondary was their downfall. Adding a big physical corner that could contain players like Dez Bryant or Julio Jones could be the final ingredient for another Super Bowl.
