Green Bay Packers: Top 10 fantasy rookie rankings in NFC North
4. Aaron Jones, RB, Packers
Those who quickly dismiss the 5-foot-9, 208-pound rookie as your typical scat back may find it enlightening that Jones gained many of his yards by driving through tacklers and showing tremendous balance in the process.
Jones, in fact, has the skill set to handle a full load of touches as a primary back if the need should ever arise.
In addition to having the savvy to pick up tough yards, the Conference USA standout has the type of burst to blow by an entire back seven once he sees an opening.
Pro Football Focus credited Jones with 28 breakaway runs of 15 yards or more in his final year in El Paso, which ranks him third at his position in the area of breakaway percentage.
The former high-school slot receiver can also run at least six different routes, including fades, corners, posts, angle, wheel and halfback option patterns.
Look for Jones to get a handful of touches early on and slowly assume a larger role as the season progresses. In time, the young ball carrier could take over Randall Cobb’s role of motioning into the backfield as a way to give the defense something else to think about.
In redraft leagues, Jones is the classic late-round handcuff that can be a difference maker should either Jamaal Williams or Ty Montgomery miss an extended period of time.
