William Stanback

If you haven’t seen the hit that a young William Stanback laid on a defensive back in a 2013 Rutgers-Central Florida game,  check out the video below.

Clearly, this guy has some power. He must have showed the Packers that side or a semblance of it last weekend because they were impressed enough to add him to an already crowded running backs room.

But it’s not all been roses and glory for Stanback. In 2015, he was thrown off the Virginia Union team after failing a number of drug tests.

“I messed up and threw it down the drain,” Stanback said in a recent interview.

At just over 6 feet and 233 pounds, Stanback recorded a 4.48, 40-yard dash at a NFL Regional Combine in February.

At Virginia Union, he accumulated 1,299 yards on 207 rushes, and 15 touchdowns during 10 games.

Stanback will join Ty Montgomery, Jamaal Williams, Aaron Jones, Devante Mays and Kalif Phillips as the competition heats up for the running back position.

Stanback will wear number 43 for the Packers.

David Talley

Anytime the Green Bay Packers can add a linebacker with potential, we all stand and cheer.

With the signing of Grand Valley State linebacker David Talley, the Packers are getting a player who accounted for 76 tackles over the course of 12 games last season.

During his pro day last month, Talley ran a 4.51 time in the 40 and had 23 reps on the bench press.

Here is how nfldraftscout.com described Talley last fall:

"Talley, an All-GLIAC honoree in 2015, is third on the squad in total tackles with 57 (29 solo/28 assisted), fifth in tackles for loss with 7.0 (-35) and fourth in QB sacks with 3.5 (-23). Talley also has two interceptions and six pass deflections. He is GVSU’s leading active tackler with 266 stops, 28,0 tackles for loss and 10.5 QB sacks. Gollman, Talley and Voss are key contributors to a Laker defense that ranks among GLIAC and national leaders in virtually every category, including scoring (17.8), QB sacks (38), tackles for loss (86), pass efficiency defense (121.62), third down conversion defense (.323), redzone defense (.606) and rushing defense (125.3)."

Talley will wear number 57 for the Packers.
