5. Letroy Guion

2017 Base Salary: $1,700,000.00    Cap Hit: $3,416,666.00

As far as base salaries go, Guion ranks 11th overall, even though he doesn’t come close to being the 11th-best player on Green Bay’s roster.

The space-eating lineman’s top priority is to stand up blockers and prevent the creation of running lanes. And though Guion exhibited occasional flashes of brilliance (see Week 8 loss at Atlanta), he was by-and-large a complete mess technique-wise.

His inability to remain low in his stance would often lead to the 322-pound defender getting turned out of his gap, as ball carriers began to increasingly rip off long runs up the gut toward the middle and latter portions of the regular season.

Jordan Howard and Zach Zenner took turns in shredding the Packers front seven down the stretch with Guion reduced to being a total non-factor as rookie Kenny Clark began showcasing real signs of development.

On the year, the soon-to-be 30-year old failed to register a single sack, forced fumble or fumble recovery.

Guion ranked 63rd among interior linemen, according to Pro Football Focus (PFF), and to make matters worse, the Florida-born veteran will start off the 2017 season as the same kind of non-entity he finished as due to a 4-game suspension for violating the league’s performance enhancing drug policy.

It might just be that Guion is wearing down entering his 9th professional season. There were times when he was on the field for 40-plus snaps in 2016 and that looks be too much to handle for the big fella.
