7. Jake Ryan

In many ways, Ryan is in the same boat as Martinez in that he’s better suited to defending the run than he is in coverage, but that doesn’t diminish the strides he made in 2016.

Ryan quietly delivered some strong performances in his second season by showcasing the instincts to fill the gaps and consistently be around the ball.

What’s more, the ascending linebacker became a better tackler in Year 2.

Ryan and Martinez could find themselves competing for snaps with rookie Josh Jones quickly developing into a hybrid defender that can line up at linebacker on obvious passing downs.
